Your life is not lying in wait in the future like a wild animal or some ominous destiny. Nor is it hidden in the heavens, like a paradise or promise. Nor is it shut up in the cave or the prison of your past. It is here and now; it is what you live and what you do. At the heart of being; at the heart of the present; at the heart of everything – in the great current of life, of reality.

~Favorite Thing~

My favorite thing about today was spending the day outside w/ Brenna and Aubree planting and working in the yard. Aubree is growing carrots and Brenna is growing parsley. After we were done w/ the yard we dug for worms, played in the hose and went to the park. It was a great day. I am very lucky to be able to spend all day, every day w/ my girls!

~Annoying People~

I took my girls to the new Hannah Montana movie and, of course, it was a madhouse but we were able to get a few good seats until a few, not-so-good, people sat by us. A mom and a young kid sat behind us and the kid proceeded to kick and push on my seat, pretty much, through the whole movie. I turned around and gave my WTF!? face a few times to the mom but it did no good. THEN two moms were sitting next to me and they were (loudly) chatting through the whole movie as if they were sitting in a coffee house!! I tried my WTF!? face on them a few times, too, but got no where w/ them either! What is wrong w/ people??

~Doctors~

I hate getting a doctor with NO bedside manner. You know the kind - the ones that walk in w/ no smile, no introduction, no handshake. Then they proceed to rush through the appointment and barely pay attention to your symptoms. I like to be treated w/ kid gloves - I want tact and respect. I want my doctor to come in, pull up a chair, have a cup of coffee w/ me and be ready to get down to the nitty-gritty of what's going on. And when we're done - I'll take a lollipop on the way out. Is that too much to ask?

~Aubree~

Aubree just turned 6 years old! My parents got her riding lessons and she loves it! She can't wait to go again on Monday! My aunt Krista sent Aubree cowgirl boots for her lessons - she looks adorable in them! Click on the collage of pictures to enlarge them.

~Valentine's Day~

Dave had to be at the cabin on Valentine's Day so we all exchanged our goodies on Friday night but Saturday morning the girls were really bummed that Daddy was gone so we went to the cabin to surprise him and spend the night w/ him!! Click on collage to see pics.

~Ukraine Presentation~

In March the girls gave a presentation on Ukraine to our homeschool group. We made Ukrainian food (from scratch!) - boiled dumplings, Kolachi nut rolls, and apple cake. Brenna spoke to the class about Ukraine and we printed pictures and put them on poster boards for the class to see. The girls did a great job!! Click on collage to see pics.

~Abraham Lincoln~

My dad and I took the girls on an Abraham Lincoln field trip a few weeks ago. We started the trip by visiting Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site where Abe Lincoln lived for some years as a young adult. Then we headed to Springfield to see Lincoln's home. We spent the night at a hotel and the girls had fun swimming and using the hot tub. The next day we went to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, the old Union Station, Lincoln's Tomb and we drove by the current State Capital building and the Old State Capital building. We all had a wonderful time and the girls talked about the trip for days after we got home!
